Paper Sampler

Designs in Template:
Semester 2 Project: The brief was to create a perfect colour mock-up of a paper sampler using KW Doggett's samplers as a guide. My Lab teacher being a practicing Graphic Designer with her own business receives these Paper Samplers on a regular basis that come in select kits. We needed to base our designs on an artist, illustrator or designer whose work we admire. I chose more of a culture or art period rather than any particular person. My inspiration was Japan and Japanese art, derived mainly from the Edo period. Using Illustrator and In Design we were to create a template based on the KW Doggett samplers and collect paper samples accordingly.

Ad Busters

Semester 2 Project: The brief was to subtly manipulate a print ad ala Ad Busters (https://www.adbusters.org)
Can you guess what I am commenting on here?

This is the orignal ad:

Magazine Illustrations

Semester 2 Project: the brief was to design 2 magazine illustrations based on research we were allocated by the teacher. We were put into teams of 3 or 4 and each person had to research a different topic. We then had to present our research to each other and the teacher. Based on the research we chose which one to illustrate (other than our own). My research topic was Believe Me, based on religion and I chose to illustrate an article on artificial limbs. The objective was for the illustration to reference the article just by looking at it. That it leant some kind of meaning without having to read the article itself. The copy itself did not need to make sense. They were created in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign using vector, and photography.

Colour Theory Poster

Semester 2 Project: The brief was to create a poster showing tertiary colour theory. We had to pick 3 or 4 colours that sit next to each other on the colour wheel. I took photos of broken up bits of chocolate (which was a lot of fun I can tell you as well as extremely tempting!) I represented the blue/green sector of the colour wheel and I did this by manipulating the hue and saturation of all the "goo" that is coming out of the chocolate (which was caramel btw :P~~~). The poster had to include type.
A booklet was to accompany the poster. The booklet needed to follow the same design idea as the poster and represent Primary, Secondary and other Tertiary colours.

Book Jackets

Semester 2 Project: Based on a Twentieth Century Architects series of books. The brief was to create 2 out of the series using the same grid layout that would be used for the entire series.

Brian Eno Another Green World

6 sided Digi-pak.
Semester 2 Project: Brief was to create 3 CD designs with the goal of producing your most successful design. I decided to challenge myself with creating a digi-pak as opposed to merely placing some paper in a jewel case (not that there is anything wrong with that!!). The designs were based on Brian Eno's album 'Another Green World'. The one above was made into the end product. It was created in Photoshop.
The below 2 designs were the not as resolved as I would have liked:

Animated Painting

Semester 2 Project: We had to create a 10-20 second Flash animation using only shape tweens. The premise was to animate a painting by an abstract Expressionist painter (boy they really seem to love these artists!). It also had to be set to music. The music I chose is 'Mandylion' by The Gathering.
